Agastya Nanda’s War Drama Ikkis Steady at Box Office, Hits Rs 26 Crore

Agastya Nanda’s War Drama Ikkis Steady at Box Office, Hits Rs 26 Crore

Post by : Meena Ariff

The war drama Ikkis, directed by acclaimed filmmaker Sriram Raghavan and produced by Maddock Films, has maintained a steady performance at the box office since its release on January 1. The film marks the theatrical debut of Agastya Nanda, grandson of the legendary Amitabh Bachchan, and has collected a total of Rs 26.35 crore in just nine days.

On the ninth day, Ikkis added Rs 85 lakh to its earnings, reflecting ongoing audience interest. Industry tracker Sacnilk reported an overall Hindi occupancy rate of 11.57% on the film’s second Friday (January 9). The audience turnout varied across showtimes, with morning shows seeing 6.75% occupancy, afternoon shows at 10.43%, evening screenings at 13.36%, and night shows drawing the highest attendance at 15.74%.

Set against the historic Battle of Basantar during the 1971 Indo-Pak war, Ikkis tells the heroic story of Second Lieutenant Arun Khetarpal, who sacrificed his life at just 21 years old and was posthumously awarded the Param Vir Chakra, India’s highest military honor. The film combines intense war sequences with deeply emotional storytelling, delivering a compelling cinematic experience.

Besides Agastya Nanda, the cast includes veteran actor Dharmendra, Simar Bhatia, Vivaan Shah, Sikandar Kher, and Jaideep Ahlawat. The film is particularly significant as the final work of Dharmendra, who passed away in November last year at the age of 89. Prior to his passing, Dharmendra shared a heartfelt message urging audiences to watch Ikkis, praising director Sriram Raghavan for his vision and the emotional depth of the film.

With its powerful blend of gripping war drama, strong performances, and heartfelt storytelling, Ikkis has become one of the notable films of the year, resonating deeply with audiences across the country.
