France is currently enduring an intense heatwave that has tragically led to the loss of seven lives, as reported by French Junior Energy Minister Maud Bregeon.
Out of these fatalities, five were attributed to drowning incidents in various bodies of water, including lakes, rivers, and beaches, while the others are also thought to be linked to the extreme heat.
In response, the French government has urged local authorities to enhance safety measures, particularly during outdoor sporting activities, to avert further incidents during this continuing heatwave.
Since Saturday, the nation has been experiencing unseasonably high temperatures impacting numerous regions.
Brittany, in particular, has been issued an orange-level weather warning by Météo-France, anticipating temperatures that could soar to 36°C by Tuesday afternoon, raising alarm about public safety and the risks associated with heat.
Authorities are actively monitoring the developments and are advising the public to exercise caution, limit outdoor exposure, and adhere to official safety recommendations.
