Harnaaz Sandhu Connects with Harmanpreet Kaur at WPL 2026 Launch

Post by : Badri Ariffin

Former Miss Universe and rising star in Bollywood, Harnaaz Sandhu, shared a touching interaction with the captain of the Indian women’s cricket team, Harmanpreet Kaur, during the inaugural match of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 in Navi Mumbai.

The duo met at the Dr. DY Patil Stadium, where the WPL's fourth season commenced with a grand opening ceremony on January 9. This event heralded a new era in women's cricket, bringing together luminaries from sports and entertainment.

Harnaaz took to Instagram to post a stunning photo alongside Harmanpreet. Dressed in a shimmering golden outfit, she complemented Harmanpreet, who exuded confidence in her Mumbai Indians gear. The Mumbai Indians entered this season as the defending champions and are two-time winners of the tournament.

Accompanying the picture, Harnaaz expressed her sentiments in an emotional caption celebrating their shared heritage and paths. “Punjab raised us, India shaped us, and the world & universe became our stage. Honoured to catch up with Captain @imharmanpreet_kaur today! Chak de phatte @wplt20,” she shared. Her words underscored the pride both women feel for their Punjabi upbringing and its influence in their ascent to international acclaim.

The WPL 2026 kicked off with a fantastic ceremony blending performance and sport. The opening acts included electrifying performances by Yo Yo Honey Singh, Jacqueline Fernandez, and Harnaaz Sandhu, setting a jubilant atmosphere for the new season.

Harnaaz’s presence added a layer of glamour, particularly as she works on furthering her film career. Last year, she made her film debut in Baaghi 4, starring alongside notable actors like Tiger Shroff, Sunjay Dutt, and Sonam Bajwa.

The encounter between Harnaaz and Harmanpreet became one of the standout moments of the opening night, illustrating how talent from Punjab continues to illuminate global stages, whether in sports or entertainment.
