The First Gulf Forum on Artificial Intelligence in Civil Service concluded successfully on Thursday, organized by the Civil Service and Government Development Bureau (CGB). The event centered on exploring innovative strategies to enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of civil service operations across Gulf countries. This collaborative forum was held in conjunction with the Sultanate of Oman as part of the initiatives set forth by the Technical Committee for Civil Service and Human Resources Affairs within the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
Director General Saif bin Ali Al Kaabi from CGB was present alongside senior officials from various ministries and civil service agencies across the GCC. The event facilitated networking among specialists and personnel from human resources and information systems sectors, enabling the exchange of knowledge and successful practices related to digital transformations in the region.
A key highlight of the forum was to demonstrate how AI technologies could revolutionize government operations. Discussions revolved around enhancing the flexibility of administrative systems, improving service delivery, and paving the way for smart institutional changes within the civil service. Attendees were shown real-world applications of AI in areas like workflow management, employee performance assessments, recruitment, and citizen service delivery.
Various Gulf entities presented their success stories in implementing digital solutions within civil service. These showcases illustrated how embracing innovative technologies leads to reduced manual tasks, streamlined processes, and a more responsive government. A panel discussion further examined AI's transformative potential in public administration and its ability to tackle challenges in human resource management and institutional procedures.
The forum wrapped up with a series of recommendations aimed at GCC nations, notably the imperative to enhance digital integration across the region. This would allow governments to share success stories and best practices in AI implementation. Another recommended strategy was to promote a Gulf network for the exchange of knowledge and expertise in AI, facilitating smoother adoption of advanced systems within public institutions.
Moreover, the forum underscored the necessity for partnerships among GCC institutions to foster innovation in government operations and to aid in the transition towards smart and adaptable administrative frameworks. Consensus was reached on the importance of collective collaboration, knowledge sharing, and the adoption of cutting-edge technologies to shape a sustainable and modern civil service infrastructure.
The First Gulf Forum on Artificial Intelligence in Civil Service represented a significant milestone in the digital transformation journey of government sectors within the GCC. Through practical demonstrations, knowledge sharing, and actionable recommendations, the forum laid the groundwork for a more intelligent and efficient civil service.
This gathering reflects the GCC's continued dedication to leveraging cutting-edge technologies to enhance governance, boost service quality, and improve institutional efficiency. The successful outcome of the forum highlights AI's vital role in sculpting the future of public administration, ensuring governments remain agile, responsive, and focused on citizen needs.
