His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President and Prime Minister, recognized the six laureates of the Great Arab Minds 2025 awards at the Museum of the Future in Dubai.

The Great Arab Minds initiative serves as the premier Arab platform for honoring extraordinary achievements, spotlighting contributions to science, knowledge, innovation, culture, and civilization, while fostering Arab talent on both regional and global stages.

Sheikh Mohammed emphasized that the initiative was designed to nurture both established and budding Arab talents, acknowledging excellence across various domains including research, technology, economics, medicine, culture, and architecture. He underscored that the goal is to instill pride in Arab accomplishments and stimulate ongoing progress.

“Today, we honor Great Arab Minds whose efforts are vital in advancing our civilization and building societies,” Sheikh Mohammed stated. “From the Museum of the Future, we reaffirm our commitment to supporting Arab innovators who are dedicated to excellence and creativity.”

2025 Winners Recognized

Sheikh Mohammed congratulated the six winners, encouraging them to continue inspiring future leaders:

  • Engineering and Technology: Professor Abbas El Gamal

  • Medicine: Dr. Nabil Seidah

  • Economics: Professor Badi Hani

  • Natural Sciences: Professor Majed Chergui

  • Architecture and Design: Dr. Suad Amiry

  • Literature and Arts: Professor Charbel Dagher

He expressed confidence in the potential of Arab talents to lead advancements in scientific research, knowledge generation, and arts, bolstered by capable institutions and ambitious youth.

Commitment to Future Innovation

Sheikh Mohammed assured that the Great Arab Minds initiative will persist in highlighting visionaries who view the future with hope and pursue their ambitions boundlessly.

The ceremony was graced by several senior UAE officials, including Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed, Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed, Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed, Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed, and Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed, along with ministers, officials, scientists, and diplomats.

Endorsement from Leadership

His Excellency Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Chair of the initiative's Higher Committee, noted that Great Arab Minds exemplifies a strategic investment in Arab intellectual advancement. He highlighted Sheikh Mohammed's vision to instill confidence in Arab abilities and promote active involvement in future development.

“This platform conveys a powerful message to millions of young Arabs, motivating them to excel in research, innovation, and knowledge,” Al Gergawi stated.

  • Medicine: Dr. Nabil Seidah was recognized for his impactful work in cardiovascular health and cholesterol research.

  • Economics: Professor Badi Hani received accolades for his groundbreaking contributions to econometrics and panel data analysis.

  • Engineering and Technology: Professor Abbas El Gamal was honored for his impactful work in network information theory.

  • Natural Sciences: Professor Majed Chergui was celebrated for his research on light-matter interactions and ultrafast molecular dynamics.

  • Architecture and Design: Dr. Suad Amiry was recognized for her efforts in preserving Palestinian architectural heritage.

  • Literature and Arts: Professor Charbel Dagher was honored for his influential works in Arab and Islamic arts and modern visual arts.

Selection Methodology

The winners were selected by six specialized committees comprising eminent ministers, scientists, academics, and international experts. A dedicated Nominations Committee assessed and short-listed the candidates.

Commonly referred to as the “Arab Nobel,” the Great Arab Minds initiative continues to play a crucial role as a prominent platform that celebrates Arab achievements and inspires upcoming generations to contribute to global advancement.
