Google has raised concerns after reports surfaced that hackers are sending extortion emails to business executives, claiming to have stolen sensitive data from Oracle’s business applications.
According to Google, a group linked to the Cl0p ransomware gang is behind the campaign. The hackers are allegedly targeting executives from different organizations with emails that threaten to release stolen information from Oracle E-Business Suite, a widely used business management software.
In its official statement, Google said it is taking the matter seriously but noted that it does not yet have enough evidence to verify the authenticity of the hackers’ claims. “We do not currently have sufficient evidence to definitively assess the veracity of these claims,” Google stated.
Both Oracle and Cl0p have not responded to media requests for comment, and Google has also not provided additional details about which organizations or industries may have been affected.
Cl0p is a well-known ransomware group responsible for several high-profile cyberattacks in the past, often using stolen data as leverage to demand ransom payments from companies. Cybersecurity experts warn that even unverified claims can cause panic among targeted businesses and put pressure on them to pay.
The incident highlights the growing risks of cyber extortion and the need for organizations to strengthen their data security measures. Businesses relying on cloud services and enterprise applications like Oracle E-Business Suite are particularly vulnerable to such threats.
Google said it is continuing to monitor the situation and urged companies to remain alert, implement strong cybersecurity protections, and report suspicious emails immediately.
This case adds to the long list of recent global cybersecurity threats, showing how ransomware gangs are constantly evolving their methods to target high-level executives and critical business applications.
