Virtual Experience of Sheikh Suroor Hall Attracts Thousands

The National Library and Archives has expanded access to the UAE's vibrant history by providing a virtual exploration of the Sheikh Suroor bin Mohamed Al Nahyan Hall. Thanks to advanced technology, individuals globally can engage with the hall and discover the legacy of one of the UAE’s most esteemed leaders.

This hall serves as a significant documentary hub dedicated to His Highness Sheikh Suroor bin Mohamed Al Nahyan. It boasts an invaluable assembly of historical documents, records, photographs, and archived materials that illuminate his critical contributions to the UAE and his enduring bond with the nation’s Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

The rising interest in the hall mirrors the public's growing appetite for the UAE's history and the accomplishments of its leaders. Over the course of 2025, the hall welcomed more than 9,000 visitors, showcasing an increasing curiosity about the country’s evolution and the influencers who have shaped its present.

Attendees of the hall can embark on an enlightening journey into the life of Sheikh Suroor bin Mohamed Al Nahyan. Displays highlight the vital roles and responsibilities he held from 1966 to 2003, complemented by large-screen documentaries that feature his insights on the establishment of the UAE, the unity of the nation, and the pivotal milestones achieved under the country's guidance.

Among the hall's notable features is an array of personal artifacts and historical memorabilia. More than 10 medals, commemorative plaques, honorary gifts, and other significant items are available for visitors to view, marking pivotal experiences in his life and service. Additionally, rare photographs from his private collection offer profound insights into his personal and national journey.

The exhibition also showcases exclusive film segments, including a private interview where Sheikh Suroor bin Mohamed Al Nahyan elaborates on UAE unity, the solid foundations of the Union, and the essential contributions of the late Sheikh Zayed to the nation's growth and evolution.

The Sheikh Suroor bin Mohamed Al Nahyan Hall plays a crucial role in supporting the National Library and Archives’ goal of preserving the UAE's historical narrative for future generations. By providing both physical and virtual access, the hall contributes to reinforcing national identity, advancing cultural appreciation, and fostering a deeper understanding of the country’s illustrious history.
