The Lego Group, a renowned Danish toy manufacturer, is making significant inroads into the sports sector with an exciting new collaboration, featuring football's legendary players.
In anticipation of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will take place across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, Lego will unveil exclusive sets inspired by global stars including Vinicius Jr., Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi, and Cristiano Ronaldo.
The launch encompasses seven distinctive sets, with four letter-themed designs honoring each player priced at $29. Premium display models showcasing Ronaldo and Messi will retail for $79.
Additionally, a unique 1,427-piece 3D wall art set of Messi, featuring his victorious pose, will be available for $179. Each set will come with mini-figures of the players, catering to both younger enthusiasts and collectors.
Messi remarked on the project, drawing parallels between football and Lego, emphasizing creativity and the joy of learning through play. He mentioned that the sets creatively immortalize unforgettable moments from the pitch.
Vinicius Jr., the star of Real Madrid, voiced his wish for the initiative to inspire inclusivity and spark creativity in young fans globally. He fondly recalled how his love for Lego ignited his imagination during his childhood.
With nearly a century of history, Lego is diversifying by embracing major sporting events. Their foray into motorsports, exemplified by crafting functional Formula One vehicles for the Miami Grand Prix last year, has been particularly successful.
Looking forward, Lego is set to introduce a comprehensive football-themed programme connected to the 2026 World Cup, including interactive fan zone experiences designed to engage supporters around the globe.
