Sara Mohammad Falaknaz, a member of the Federal National Council (FNC), recently engaged with Lina Gálvez, the Chair of the Women’s Rights and Gender Equality Committee at the European Parliament, to explore avenues for bolstering collaboration between the FNC and the European Parliament.
The discussion unfolded during the FNC delegation's visit to the European Parliament in Strasbourg, France, where both groups addressed pressing issues such as women empowerment, promoting women's roles in decision-making, and boosting their contributions to peace and security. They also stressed the importance of fostering multilateral cooperation and combating hate speech and discrimination.
Falaknaz stressed the UAE's commendable history of empowering women, highlighting their essential roles in the nation’s development and decision-making, a vision supported since the inception of the Union.
She also provided insights into the UAE’s peaceful nuclear energy initiatives, asserting that the nuclear power plants adhere to stringent international safety and transparency standards, with oversight from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). This underscores the UAE's dedication to the peaceful application of nuclear technology.
Lina Gálvez commended the UAE's strides in promoting women's empowerment, particularly its achievements in attaining gender balance in parliamentary circles, contrasting it with the ongoing challenges faced by some European nations in increasing female representation in decision-making.
The session concluded with both parties expressing a mutual desire to enhance cooperation in areas of shared interest, especially women's empowerment and inclusive governance.
