FIFA Reveals $60 Ticket Option for 2026 World Cup Enthusiasts

FIFA Reveals $60 Ticket Option for 2026 World Cup Enthusiasts

Post by : Badri Ariffin

In a significant update, FIFA has launched a new ticket category for the upcoming 2026 World Cup, introducing a limited selection of $60 (£45) “supporter entry” tickets applicable to all 104 matches. This decision follows significant backlash regarding the tournament’s initial pricing plan.

The organization confirmed that these tickets are designed for “dedicated fans” of the national teams that qualify for the World Cup, with the intention of making match attendance more attainable. A FIFA representative remarked, “We have heeded the voices of our supporters, and this new ticket category is a step in the right direction,” noting that the decision received unanimous approval.

UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer acknowledged this initiative but urged FIFA to further enhance affordability for true supporters. Previous ticket prices had prompted concerns from fans, with potential costs exceeding £5,000, which the Football Supporters’ Association (FSA) termed as “outrageous.”

The £45 ticket will constitute the lowest tier in the 'supporter entry' category and will make up 10% of each football association’s match allocation across Canada, Mexico, and the United States. For England and Scotland, approximately 400 tickets will be available at this rate during group stage matches.

However, FSA chair Tom Greatrex labeled it a “superficial gesture,” implying it fails to comprehensively resolve fans’ issues. Football Supporters Europe (FSE) also expressed approval but mentioned that more action is necessary to offset the earlier pricing concerns.

FIFA clarified that each participating member association (PMA) will be responsible for ticket management, determining eligibility guidelines to prioritize fans deeply connected to their national teams. In total, 50% of each PMA’s ticket allocation will be priced affordably: 40% under the ‘supporter value tier’ and 10% in the ‘supporter entry tier’, while the remaining distribution is allocated among ‘supporter standard’ and ‘supporter premier’ tiers.

This initiative signifies FIFA’s recognition of fan feedback and a positive shift toward a more accessible World Cup experience, while ensuring a structured ticket distribution that honors devoted supporters.
