Farhan Akhtar, the renowned Bollywood filmmaker, has candidly shared his experiences with the prolonged delays of his directorial venture, Jee Le Zaraa. Initially announced in 2021, the film features leading stars Katrina Kaif, Alia Bhatt, and Priyanka Chopra. However, what started as a highly anticipated project quickly turned into a confusing waiting game due to ongoing scheduling conflicts.
Following the release of Toofan in 2021, Farhan decided to forgo acting opportunities to channel his efforts solely into Jee Le Zaraa. He declined numerous roles, firmly believing the film's shoot would commence shortly. He emphasized that directing demands undivided focus and communicated to many that he would be unavailable until the film began. As time rolled on and the schedule continued to shift, he found himself in a frustrating limbo.
The prolonged wait took a significant emotional toll on Farhan. He expressed concerns about how the extended hiatus might lead others to question his directorial skills, especially after nearly two and a half years of inaction. Consulting with a therapist provided him some clarity, helping him understand the origins of his anxiety, though detaching himself from the film proved to be a challenge due to his deep investment.
The original announcement of the cast created tremendous buzz, particularly due to the dynamic of three leading actresses collaborating on a friendship-centric road trip narrative. However, coordinating schedules among the trio has been exceedingly difficult. Despite completing location scouting and music production, filming has been repeatedly delayed by the lack of a mutual availability window.
Recently, Farhan hinted that the initial cast might not remain intact. While he refrained from confirming casting details, he assured that the film will be made. Much of the groundwork is set, and he aims to reinitiate the project within a new timeline.
In the meantime, Farhan stars in the war drama 120 Bahadur, portraying Major Shaitan Singh, a retelling of the Battle of Rezang La during the 1962 Sino-Indian War, a showcase of the valor of 120 Indian soldiers against overwhelming odds. Additionally, he is gearing up for work on Don 3, anticipated for 2026, featuring Ranveer Singh in the lead role, with the female counterpart yet to be announced.
