Ezeiza, Argentina – November 15, 2025: On Friday night, a sequence of powerful explosions occurred within Ezeiza’s Spegazzini Industrial Park, situated south of Buenos Aires, igniting a substantial fire that has led to 22 hospitalizations, according to reports from local authorities. This incident has caused significant damage to several factories, particularly those dealing in chemicals and plastics, highlighting concerns regarding industrial safety in the area.
Mayor Gaston Granados confirmed that the blasts impacted various facilities, including agriculture-related warehouses and a plastics manufacturer, Plásticos Lago. “The explosions and resulting fire across the factories are immense,” stated Granados, adding that measures to evacuate surrounding areas were swiftly implemented.
Dramatic visuals on social media displayed enormous flames and dense smoke rising from the industrial site, while the shockwave from the explosions was powerful enough to shatter windows in Ezeiza and nearby Canuelas. Some residents reported seeing an unidentified object fall from the sky just prior to the explosions, though the cause remains unverified.
Carlos Santoro, the director of the local hospital, confirmed that 22 individuals were treated for various injuries, including burns and trauma connected to the blasts. Approximately 15 firefighting crews have been deployed to combat the persistent blaze, which is anticipated to last for a significant duration. Fabian Garcia, civil defense director for Buenos Aires province, described the fire as “complex” and warned that extinguishing it will require substantial time.
There has been speculation surrounding the involvement of a small aircraft, yet Mayor Granados emphasized that no information can be confirmed until the fire is fully controlled. In the meantime, Sinteplast, a prominent factory in the industrial park, has made it clear that its establishment was not responsible for the fire. “The explosion caused widespread destruction, affecting gates, ceilings, and fire pipes. Thankfully, our factory wasn’t directly hit, but the shockwave was intense,” remarked the owner of the factory.
This event highlights the dangers associated with industrial areas, for both employees and nearby residents. Investigative efforts regarding the explosion's cause are actively underway, with officials pledging to provide updates after the fire’s containment. Local authorities remain focused on ensuring the safety of nearby communities while emergency services strive to minimize further damages.
As the flames continue to consume parts of the industrial park, both the Argentine public and governing bodies are on heightened alert, underscoring the importance of stringent safety protocols and efficient emergency responses in industrial locales.
