Dubai: In a strategic move to strengthen its footprint across East and Southeast Asia, Emirates SkyCargo has launched a new weekly freighter service to Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK). The new route aims to boost trade connectivity and provide regional exporters greater flexibility in moving goods globally through Dubai, reinforcing the airline’s role as a world leader in logistics.
With this addition, Emirates SkyCargo now serves 43 freighter destinations globally, including 11 across East and Southeast Asia. The new service also complements Thailand’s “Thailand 4.0” initiative, a national vision promoting innovation in smart technology, robotics, biotechnology, and advanced manufacturing.
Operating one of the world’s largest all-widebody fleets—comprising more than 260 aircraft—Emirates SkyCargo can handle Thailand’s wide-ranging exports, from high-tech electronics and garments to perishable goods like tropical fruits. The connection via Dubai’s global logistics hub ensures faster, more reliable access to markets across Europe, the Middle East, and the Americas.
The decision to enhance operations in Asia comes amid soaring demand for air cargo capacity, driven by eCommerce growth and expanding manufacturing sectors. Along with the new Bangkok service, Emirates SkyCargo has increased its Hanoi operations to four weekly freighters and added a sixth weekly service to Guangzhou, responding to the region’s rising export volumes of consumer electronics, industrial components, and online retail goods.
Over the past three decades, Emirates SkyCargo has steadily expanded its presence across Asia, becoming a vital bridge for trade and commerce. The airline now operates 25 gateways in East and Southeast Asia, supported by 45 freighter services, 13 charter operations, and over 315 passenger flights per week, offering a total cargo capacity of 21,000 tonnes weekly.
“Our continued investment in Asia underscores Emirates SkyCargo’s commitment to supporting the region’s fast-growing economies and enabling seamless global trade,” the airline said in a statement.
This latest expansion further strengthens Dubai’s position as a global logistics powerhouse, connecting Asia’s thriving industries with international markets and reinforcing Emirates SkyCargo’s leadership in the world of air freight and trade logistics.
