In a landmark move, UAE’s EDGE Group is set to transform Angola’s border security landscape with a comprehensive, state-of-the-art programme. The initiative, led by EDGE’s entity BEACON RED, is nearing finalization with the Angolan Ministry of Interior following the signing of a Letter of Intent.
The programme aims to deliver advanced border management solutions, including AI-driven analytics, surveillance UAVs, secure communications, and integrated big data systems. These technologies are designed to improve situational awareness, operational readiness, and rapid response capabilities across Angola’s critical border points.
This project reflects EDGE Group’s strategy of exporting UAE-developed defence and security solutions to international partners. Angola, with its ambition to modernize national security infrastructure, has emerged as a key strategic partner. The initiative is expected to be one of the largest UAE-led international security projects to date.
The comprehensive system will be modular and interoperable, customized to Angola’s terrain and threat environment. Beyond technology, the programme also includes mission-specific training, ensuring local forces are equipped to respond effectively in real-world scenarios.
This border security initiative follows another major UAE-Angola deal under which Abu Dhabi Ship Building, an EDGE subsidiary, is building BR71 MKII corvettes for the Angolan Navy. Together, these projects highlight a growing UAE role in supporting Angola’s long-term defence and security development.
