Major Tribute Art Installation in Dubai Celebrates Founding Leaders

Major Tribute Art Installation in Dubai Celebrates Founding Leaders

Post by : Badri Ariffin

In a remarkable tribute to the Founding Fathers of the UAE, Dubai has launched a stunning ground installation for this year's National Month celebrations. Brand Dubai, in collaboration with Dubai Municipality, has developed a grand artwork displaying a joint portrait of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and the late Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum.

Positioned at the roundabout near Dubai Frame, close to the Sheikh Zayed Road and Zabeel Park intersection, the project spans 82 meters in diameter. Crafted with meticulously arranged multi-colored gravel, the portrait becomes fully visible from an aerial view. This striking feature has quickly become one of the most eye-catching highlights of the ongoing celebrations.

This installation is part of the second phase of the #ZayedAndRashid initiative, aimed at promoting the enduring legacy and values of these two influential leaders. Their collaborative vision remains integral to the UAE's development narrative, and this artwork serves as a reminder of the foundational principles that shaped the nation.

The chosen location symbolizes a bridge between the UAE's historical legacy and its modern advancements, providing a visual connection between the country’s past leadership and its current successes. A specialized insulating base was employed to maintain the gravel's stability, ensuring the portrait's clarity and detail over time. The circular design delivers a striking aerial view that contrasts vividly with the urban backdrop.

As part of National Month, this initiative introduces a new artistic dimension to the city, merging creativity with national pride. It seeks to motivate future generations and reinforce the ambitious spirit that guided the early development of the nation.
