In a significant gesture, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority has rebranded Al Faghi Street in Al Khawaneej to Sheikh Zayed Farm Street, acknowledging the site’s crucial historical role in the UAE's formation.
This decision was made in partnership with the Dubai Road Naming Committee and underscores the nation’s commitment to honor places tied to its identity and foundational history. Sheikh Zayed Farm joins Union House and Arqoob Al Sedira as the UAE's third designated union site.
The farm is emblematic of national pride as it hosted pivotal gatherings led by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan during the early days of the UAE's establishment, helping to shape the Union Agreement in 1971.
Reports indicate that Sheikh Zayed resided at the farm for nearly two weeks in March 1971, engaging in crucial discussions with the emirates' rulers, which ultimately led to the signing of the Union Agreement and the UAE Constitution later that year.
The renaming initiative reflects a broader vision aimed at linking urban landmarks to places of cultural significance, fostering national pride and educating younger generations about the UAE's rich historical narrative.
Today, Sheikh Zayed Farm stands as one of the UAE’s vital heritage sites, symbolizing unity, vision, and leadership that have positioned the UAE as a model for growth and stability worldwide.
This new street designation is expected to enhance the visibility of historical landmarks throughout the Emirates and cultivate public appreciation for the nation's founding narrative and cultural legacy.
