Dubai, UAE — A group of Emirati media students has successfully returned from an enriching international field assignment, gaining vital hands-on experience under the Emirati Media Talent Pledge. This initiative is spearheaded by the Dubai Media Council (DMC) in partnership with Dubai Chambers and the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT).
The program was tailored to merge academic theories with professional practice, allowing students to immerse themselves in active newsroom-like settings during significant economic events overseas. This year, their journey led them to Tbilisi and Yerevan, where the Dubai Chambers organized the ‘Doing Business with Georgia’ Forum and the ‘Doing Business with Armenia’ Forum earlier this month.
Throughout their stay, students engaged in content creation, coordinated media activities on-site, and covered business engagements that underscored Dubai's deepening trade relations with international markets. They collaborated with communications teams to manage press events, document crucial meetings, and develop multilingual content aimed at global audiences.
Officials involved emphasized that this experience underpins Dubai’s overarching vision of cultivating a skilled national media workforce capable of amplifying the Emirate’s voice on a global scale. The initiative also reinforces Dubai's persistent efforts to enhance its economic outreach and solidify its role as a center for international collaboration.
Faculty members from HCT pointed out that the collaboration provided students with opportunities to utilize their storytelling, production, and communication skills in a real-world context—a reflection of the institution’s applied learning philosophy. Students expressed that the exposure enabled them to grasp how media teams narrate stories behind vital business missions and the significance of such narratives in enhancing Dubai’s global presence.
Launched under the direction of His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum during the Arab Media Forum last year, the Emirati Media Talent Pledge continues to provide training, mentorship, and industry engagement for young Emiratis through partnerships with prominent media organizations.
This latest mission is another landmark in equipping future professionals ready to bolster the UAE's expanding economic diplomacy and contribute to the nation’s evolving media landscape.
