DP World has entered a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Al Dahra Holding to identify strategic opportunities that will enhance food security and optimize agri-logistics in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and beyond.
This collaboration supports broader regional initiatives to fortify food supply chains within the Gulf area. Given that the UAE relies on imports for approximately 85–90% of its food needs, the necessity for reliable supply chain frameworks to ensure long-term food security is underscored.
As part of this agreement, both companies will collaborate on crafting comprehensive supply chain solutions dedicated to the transportation, storage, and distribution of food and agricultural products. This alliance merges DP World’s extensive logistics framework with Al Dahra’s proficiency in agricultural sourcing and production.
The partnership will also evaluate the establishment of specialized logistics and port facilities for the import, storage, processing, and distribution of food commodities across the GCC. Special emphasis will be placed on advancing cold chain and warehousing capacities tailored for perishable items such as fresh produce, grains, and processed foods.
Additionally, DP World and Al Dahra aim to identify opportunities for joint investment in logistics infrastructures, free zone operations, and agri-food processing facilities, particularly focusing on regions like Abu Dhabi and other GCC nations.
The two companies will enhance and refine global sourcing routes spanning Africa, Eastern Europe, Central Asia, and the Americas to bolster the efficiency and resilience of food supply networks.
As part of this partnership, there will be an examination of tech-enabled logistics innovations, encompassing digital platforms, traceability mechanisms, and smart logistics technologies to heighten operational efficiency, transparency, and supply chain durability.
Furthermore, the partnership will facilitate improved cooperation on food safety standards, customs regulations, and regulatory processes to allow for seamless cross-border trade.
Yuvraj Narayan, Group CEO of DP World, remarked that this collaboration exemplifies the company's dedication to cultivating resilient and sustainable global supply chains while promoting food security and economic development.
Arnoud van den Berg, Group CEO of Al Dahra, expressed that this partnership will enhance the company's capacity to efficiently source, transport, and distribute critical food items throughout the GCC and international markets.
