The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH) has partnered with SEHA Clinics to announce the extended operating hours of primary healthcare centres, now offering services around the clock.
This innovative move is designed to provide timely, integrated, and patient-focused care, bolstering Abu Dhabi’s healthcare framework to effectively respond to the rising needs of the community.
Urgent Care and Accessibility Enhancement
As part of this enhancement, certain centres will launch urgent care services to facilitate quicker medical assistance for non-critical conditions. This initiative is anticipated to alleviate pressure on hospital emergency departments while enhancing the patient experience and health outcomes.
Currently, the primary care centres in Mazyad and Sweihan are operational 24/7 with urgent care services. Moreover, ten centres across Abu Dhabi and Al Ain—such as Al Hili, Al Aamerah, Al Hayer, Neima, Al Quaa, Al Bateen, Al Zafaranah, Al Bahia, Madinat Mohammed Bin Zayed, and Baniyas—have also adopted 24-hour operations.
These centres are set to implement urgent care services by the second quarter of 2026, marking a progressive expansion aimed at enhancing geographic reach and accessibility.
Strengthening the Healthcare Framework
Dr. Noura Khamis Al Ghaithi, Undersecretary of DoH, stated that extending services to 24 hours is crucial for fostering a resilient and proactive healthcare system. Emphasizing that convenient access to care is integral to quality health services, she focused on the overall well-being of the community.
Rashed Al Qubaisi, Group Chief Operating Officer of PureHealth, called the initiative a landmark achievement in advancing patient-centric services and providing top-tier healthcare solutions.
Comprehensive Preventive Healthcare
The expanded primary care centres will continue to provide a broad range of services including chronic disease management, vaccinations, mental health support, health education, and coordination with specialists.
Aligned with the new standards for emergency and urgent care facilities, this initiative epitomizes DoH’s pledge to uphold global best practices, ensuring the quality, safety, and sustainability of healthcare services throughout the emirate.
A Commitment to Community Health
By extending operational hours and incorporating urgent care, Abu Dhabi is making significant strides toward better healthcare accessibility, improved patient satisfaction, and fostering healthier communities in the region.
