Ranveer Singh’s high-octane spy thriller Dhurandhar continues its impressive box office run, showing remarkable staying power more than a month after its release. As per the latest figures shared by the filmmakers on Instagram, the film added ₹3.6 crore to its tally on Day 36. With this, Dhurandhar has now collected a massive ₹844.45 crore across India.
The newly released poster also breaks down the film’s earnings, revealing that it generated ₹784.5 crore during its first five weeks in theatres. Of this, ₹56.35 crore came from the fifth week alone, underlining the film’s strong hold at the box office. The makers captioned the update, stating, “The March of Wrath continues to dominate the box office. Book your tickets. #Dhurandhar Ruling Cinemas Worldwide.”
Released on December 5, Dhurandhar is a gripping espionage drama that draws loose inspiration from several major real-world geopolitical incidents. These include the 1999 IC-814 hijacking, the 2001 attack on the Indian Parliament, the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, and events associated with Operation Lyari.
The film features an ensemble cast led by Ranveer Singh as intelligence operative Hamza Ali Mazari. The supporting lineup includes Akshaye Khanna as Rehman Dakait, Sanjay Dutt in the role of SP Chaudhary Aslam, R. Madhavan as Ajay Sanyal, Arjun Rampal as Major Iqbal, Sara Arjun portraying Yalina Jamali, and Rakesh Bedi as Jameel Jamali.
Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap recently shared his review of Dhurandhar, appreciating the film’s underlying themes and intent. He remarked that a spy or a soldier must carry a sense of anger and conflict toward the enemy state for the role to feel authentic. However, Kashyap also pointed out two moments he found problematic — a dialogue delivered by R. Madhavan’s character and the film’s final line spoken by Ranveer Singh, “Ye naya India hai.”
