Kuwait City: Kuwait's Criminal Security Affairs Sector has taken into custody an Egyptian expatriate along with a Kuwaiti woman due to suspicions of selling and utilizing counterfeit government stamps, in addition to misappropriating state funds.
The arrests were made by the Criminal Police Department, following an investigation that unveiled the suspects' use of imitation government stamps at a local government hospital where they were both employed.
As reported by the Ministry of Interior in Kuwait, the initial arrest targeted the Egyptian guard, who worked at the hospital. Authorities discovered multiple counterfeit government stamps in his possession during this operation.
Upon interrogation, the Egyptian suspect provided vital information that assisted investigators in locating the second suspect, a Kuwaiti woman also employed at the same facility.
Following this lead, the Kuwaiti woman was arrested, with authorities seizing additional counterfeit government stamps from her.
It was documented that the woman completed a transaction using a forged government stamp in exchange for monetary gain, according to the Ministry of Interior.
During the interrogation, she confessed to exploiting her hospital position for financial advantage, allegedly processing official transactions with counterfeit stamps while retaining authentic ones for other dealings.
Reportedly, she also admitted to extracting previously used genuine stamps from archived documents to reuse them in new transactions.
Authorities seized both the counterfeit stamps and other materials believed to be linked to the offenses.
The two suspects, along with the seized items, have been forwarded to appropriate legal bodies for further action.
The Ministry of Interior indicated that security agencies will sustain efforts to monitor and investigate fraudulent activities aimed at exploiting government procedures to safeguard public funds and official documentation.
