CASE, LTA Launch Car-Sharing Accreditation

CASE, LTA Launch Car-Sharing Accreditation

Post by : Shakul

The Consumers Association of Singapore (CASE) and the Land Transport Authority (LTA) have launched a new CaseTrust accreditation scheme for car-sharing operators, aiming to raise industry standards and address common consumer concerns such as vehicle maintenance, pricing transparency, and dispute resolution.

The CaseTrust-LTA Joint Accreditation Scheme for Car-Sharing Businesses (Silver) sets clear guidelines for operators, including regular vehicle servicing every 10,000 km or six months, maintaining safe and clean cars, transparent pricing, and clear rules for late returns, damages, and liabilities. Membership subscriptions and renewals must follow an opt-in model, and collision damage waivers are required to protect users in case of accidents.

Operators must also handle disputes efficiently, acknowledging complaints within three working days and resolving them within 21 working days. Participation is voluntary, but accredited operators will provide consumers with greater peace of mind when booking vehicles. Car-sharing businesses can apply for accreditation through the CaseTrust website.

CASE President Melvin Yong and LTA CEO Ng Lang emphasized that the scheme strengthens consumer confidence in the growing car-sharing sector. Several operators, including Car Lite, Drive Lah, GetGo Technologies, and Tribecar, have welcomed the accreditation, highlighting its role in building a trusted and reliable mobility ecosystem in Singapore.
