In a stunning turn of events at the IPL 2026 mini auction, Kolkata Knight Riders made headlines by acquiring Cameron Green for an incredible ₹25.2 crore, thereby marking him as the most expensive overseas player in IPL history, eclipsing the previous record set by Mitchell Starc at ₹24.75 crore.
The bidding was intense, with Mumbai Indians starting at Green’s base price of ₹2 crore but quickly retracting due to budget constraints. Rajasthan Royals showed interest, yet KKR, boasting the highest available funds, maintained their lead. Though Chennai Super Kings made an attempt to surpass KKR's bid at ₹25 crore, the Knight Riders ultimately secured Green with a final offer of ₹25.2 crore.
Per the new IPL regulations, Green will take home ₹18 crore, while the remaining ₹7.2 crore is earmarked for player welfare projects. Familiar with the IPL scene after playing for MI in 2023 and RCB in 2024, Green's record-setting price once again underscores his significant appeal in the league.
