Bangladesh Violence: Sheikh Hasina Says Chaos Rising After Hadi Death

Bangladesh Violence: Sheikh Hasina Says Chaos Rising After Hadi Death

Post by : Rameen Ariff

The country is again facing fresh violence and unrest after the death of Sharif Osman Hadi, a well-known political activist. Sharif Osman Hadi played an important role in the July movement, which led to the removal of Sheikh Hasina from power last year. After his death, violence has increased in many parts of Bangladesh, especially in the capital city Dhaka.

Sheikh Hasina, the former Prime Minister of Bangladesh, has now spoken openly about the situation. She said that violence has become normal in Bangladesh and blamed the interim government led by Muhammad Yunus for failing to control the situation.

What Happened to Sharif Osman Hadi

Sharif Osman Hadi was shot at close range on December 12 in Dhaka. At the time of the attack, he was sitting in a rickshaw. He suffered a serious head injury.

He was first treated in Bangladesh but later airlifted to Singapore for better medical care. Despite treatment, he died on December 18.

After his death, anger spread across the country, leading to new protests and violent incidents.

Attacks After His Death

After the killing of Hadi, several places came under attack.

  • Offices of major newspapers were damaged

  • Cultural groups and art centres were also attacked

These incidents added to the growing fear and tension in the country. According to Sheikh Hasina, this Bangladesh violence is hurting the country’s peace and safety.

Sheikh Hasina’s Strong Words

Sheikh Hasina said the current government is either ignoring the violence or unable to stop it. She said this violence is not only harming Bangladesh but also damaging ties with neighboring countries.

She also said that religious minorities are not safe, and extremist groups are getting stronger. According to her, dangerous people have been released from jail and given space in public life.

She warned that Bangladesh violence could affect the whole South Asian region if it is not controlled soon.

Anti-India Protests and Minority Attack

In the past week, anti-India protests have taken place in Bangladesh. A very shocking case was reported where a Hindu man was beaten to death and his body was set on fire on a highway.

Police later said there was no proof that the victim had made any offensive remark, which was the reason given by the mob.

Because of safety concerns, the Indian Visa Application Centre in Chittagong has stopped all visa services for now.

Political Tension and Future Worries

Sheikh Hasina also spoke about her court verdict, calling it unfair and politically motivated. She said she was not given a fair chance to defend herself.

She added that elections without her party are meaningless and said millions of people would lose their right to vote.

She said she left Bangladesh to stop bloodshed, not to escape justice, and promised to return only when the country has a fair government and free courts.

Why This News Matters

This Bangladesh violence is a serious issue. People are scared, minorities feel unsafe, and political tension is rising every day. Many fear the situation may get worse if peace does not return soon.

This is a latest, breaking, and very sad news that the world is closely watching.
