On Monday, the astronauts from China’s Shenzhou-23 spacecraft successfully entered the Tiangong space station, marking the onset of a new in-orbit crew transition mission.
As reported by the China Manned Space Agency (CMSA), the Shenzhou-21 crew welcomed the newcomers by opening the station hatch at 5:13 am Beijing Time.
This meeting between the two astronaut teams officially initiated the crew rotation process at China’s Tiangong space station. The handover will see both crews collaborating in orbit until the Shenzhou-21 astronauts return home.
The Tiangong space station serves as an integral element of China’s expanding space program, focusing on long-duration human missions, scientific research, and technological advancements in space.
The arrival of the Shenzhou-23 crew underscores China’s ongoing achievements in space exploration and its commitment to enhancing operations within the Tiangong station.
