The Arab League's General Secretariat has issued a stern warning regarding the Israeli occupation and annexation efforts, viewing these actions as dire risks to the stability and security of the region while breaching international law and complicating the path toward a peaceful resolution of the Palestinian conflict.
On the 59th anniversary of the June 1967 War, the League highlighted the escalating Israeli military actions in Gaza. It also drew attention to the ongoing expansion of settlements and plans for annexation in the West Bank, in addition to military assaults in Lebanon and Syria.
The Arab League reiterated that sustainable peace and security in the Middle East hinge on ending the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories and other Arab lands taken since 1967. It reaffirmed its commitment to establishing an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, aligning with the two-state solution, international resolutions, and the Arab Peace Initiative.
The organization urged the global community to intensify efforts and apply greater pressure on Israel to cease its military actions and what it deems unlawful practices, including the establishment of settlements in occupied regions.
According to the Arab League, putting an end to the occupation and facilitating a political resolution are vital for attaining peace and stability throughout the region.
