The World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE), backed by Qatar Foundation, has commenced its application process for the 2026-2027 Education Prize. This initiative aims to foster innovative educational solutions that can tackle pressing global challenges through funding, mentorship, and technical support.
According to WISE, a carefully selected group of finalists will be chosen through a thorough evaluation process. Each finalist will be awarded development funding ranging from USD 100,000 to USD 125,000. In addition, these participants will benefit from a 12-month mentorship program that focuses on scaling their projects for long-lasting impact.
The competition will culminate during the WISE 13 Summit in Doha in 2027, where an esteemed international jury will distribute USD 1 million in prizes to the most impactful and scalable educational solutions that demonstrate significant improvements in learning outcomes.
This cycle will prioritize areas such as enhancing educational access in underserved communities, advocating responsible AI use in education, fortifying foundational skills like literacy and numeracy, and addressing the mental and physical well-being of students.
Dr. Asyia Kazmi, CEO of WISE, emphasized that the program is aimed at supporting organizations capable of transforming innovative concepts into practical, scalable solutions that can incite meaningful change in global education systems.
Aurelio Amaral, WISE's Director of Innovation, pointed out that the initiative primarily targets established institutions with promising pilot projects. The technical support provided will assist participants in developing sustainable growth strategies adaptable to various regions and cultures.
WISE explained that all submitted proposals would undergo several evaluation stages, including eligibility screenings, expert reviews, and an “innovation race” that assesses how effectively the solutions can adapt to real-world educational challenges before advancing to the final development stage in 2027.
Since its inception in 2009, the WISE Prize for Education has acknowledged over 100 innovative projects and influential individuals globally. The initiative has evolved into a significant global platform endorsing evidence-based educational solutions with the potential for broad international impact.
