The young star of Mercedes, Kimi Antonelli, has once again showcased his talent by clinching victory at the Canadian Grand Prix, marking his fourth straight win in the ongoing Formula One season. The 19-year-old driver dazzled at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal, reinforcing his leadership in the championship standings. With his impressive form this year, Antonelli is undoubtedly a rising star in 2026 F1.
Starting the race from the front row alongside teammate George Russell, both drivers engaged in a fierce battle for the lead in the early laps. However, Russell's race came to a halt on lap 30 due to a power unit failure, allowing Antonelli to seize control and glide toward the checkered flag.
Lewis Hamilton of Ferrari finished in second place, achieving his best result of the season. Max Verstappen from Red Bull rounded out the podium in third amidst challenging conditions. Charles Leclerc took fourth, while Isack Hadjar and Franco Colapinto secured valuable points.
The weather in Montreal presented additional hurdles for teams over the weekend. Although rain was anticipated, the race unfolded under mostly dry conditions, catching some teams off-guard with their tire strategies. McLaren faced a particularly tough day; Lando Norris retired due to gearbox issues, and Oscar Piastri ended outside the points after a collision penalty.
With this victory, Antonelli extends his lead in the drivers' championship — now 43 points ahead of George Russell. Remarkably, he has become the first Italian since Alberto Ascari to secure four consecutive wins, and the first in F1 history to achieve his first four wins back-to-back.
The young Mercedes driver is generating excitement across the motorsport community. His calm demeanor, reliability, and maturity have garnered praise from fans and experts alike, with many suggesting he could be the next world champion.
Mercedes also strengthened its position in the constructors' championship following another strong performance. Team principal Toto Wolff commended Antonelli's exceptional talent and poise, as excitement builds for the remaining races this season with Antonelli emerging as the favorite for the title.
