Aldar and Mubadala Secure The Link at Masdar City for AED 654M

Post by : Badri Ariffin

Aldar Properties, in partnership with Mubadala Investment Company, has successfully acquired The Link at Masdar City as part of their collaboration initiated in 2024. This acquisition, valued at AED 654 million, enhances their portfolio of premium, revenue-generating properties.

This transaction underscores the burgeoning investment interest in Abu Dhabi's real estate and innovation sectors, fueled by robust institutional demand and optimism regarding the emirate’s sustainable economic trajectory.

The Link encompasses roughly 32,000 square meters of net leasable area across five structures. Currently, it is fully leased to prominent global entities and forward-thinking organizations, such as the Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company (Masdar) and Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence.

Among its features are Grade A LEED Platinum-certified office spaces, a net-zero energy headquarters, versatile meeting spaces, and residential units. These attributes position it as a central component of Masdar City's holistic and sustainable landscape.

Dr. Bakheet Al Katheeri, CEO of Mubadala’s UAE Investments Platform, indicated that the acquisition signifies strong faith in Abu Dhabi's development and its innovation-led economy. He emphasized that it aligns with Mubadala's commitment to fostering sustainable infrastructure while achieving impressive financial outcomes and aiding the UAE’s Net Zero ambitions.

Talal Al Dhiyebi, Group CEO of Aldar, remarked that this acquisition not only strengthens their investment portfolio but also deepens their collaboration with Mubadala. He noted that the asset amplifies their presence in a globally acknowledged center for clean energy, cutting-edge technology, and research.

Ahmed Baghoum, CEO of Masdar City, characterized The Link as a significant enhancement to the city's growth. He asserted that it backs the vision of integrating sustainability with economic expansion and future-oriented industries, further solidifying Abu Dhabi's status as a global innovation leader.
