New academic year begins across Afghanistan

Post by : Shakul

The new academic year 1405 (solar calendar) officially commenced across Afghanistan on Thursday, marked by a formal ceremony attended by top officials from the Ministry of Education, teachers, students, and members of the country’s leadership.

The event, held in the capital city of Kabul, highlighted the government’s renewed commitment to delivering healthy, quality, and balanced education to children nationwide. The Ministry of Education emphasized that education remains a top priority amid ongoing efforts to strengthen the country’s school system.

In his message commemorating the occasion, Mullah Habibullah Agha, Minister of Education, reaffirmed the ministry’s dedication to effective educational plans and programs for the new academic year. He underscored the importance of expanding access to learning and improving educational outcomes.

A notable announcement during the ceremony was the establishment of the Imam Abu Yusuf (RA) Model High School, which is intended to provide enhanced educational opportunities and scientific training for outstanding students from institutions across Afghanistan.

Deputy Minister for Finance and Administration Mullah Sibghatullah Wasel reviewed the ministry’s achievements over the past year, noting that the curriculum for grades one to six has already been prepared and printed. He also reported that 800 schools were repaired and renovated during the previous academic cycle, reflecting ongoing investments in educational infrastructure.

Other senior officials, including Deputy Prime Minister for Administrative Affairs Mullah Abdul Salam Hanafi, Director General of Administrative Affairs Sheikh Noorulhaq Anwar, and Minister of Information and Culture Sheikh Sher Ahmad Haqqani, spoke on the vital role of knowledge in national development and societal well‑being.

Speakers urged families to send their children to school and praised the Ministry of Education’s performance and achievements. The launch of the academic year comes amid efforts to expand learning opportunities and enhance educational quality across Afghanistan.
