Abu Dhabi: AD Ports Group has significantly bolstered the resilience of both local and regional supply chains in the Gulf region by utilizing its diverse logistics network, ensuring consistent trade flows despite recent disruptions.
Since the end of February, the group has effectively maintained operations by quickly establishing alternative trade routes and redirecting cargo through land, rail, sea, and air. These proactive strategies have alleviated the impacts of disruptions affecting Arabian Gulf ports, particularly in light of congestion in the Strait of Hormuz.
To date, AD Ports Group has processed over 54,000 TEUs at Fujairah Terminals and Khor Fakkan Port. Moreover, more than 22,000 containers have been moved through ground logistics, and 18,000 TEUs have transitioned via its maritime services. Supported by a fleet of 24 vessels running eight feeder services, the group has also facilitated the transport of over 8,000 tonnes of cargo through air logistics, utilizing more than 100 chartered flights.
Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, the Managing Director and Group CEO of AD Ports Group, highlighted that the organization's long-term investments in logistics infrastructure have enabled one of the UAE's largest logistics redeployments. He reiterated the group’s commitment to maintaining the steady flow of essential goods such as food, medicines, and strategic supplies, while upholding high safety standards for its workforce.
To support seamless shipping services to Khalifa Port and other key regional trade corridors, AD Ports Group has introduced new feeder shipping services that connect the UAE’s eastern ports with those situated in the Arabian Sea and Red Sea. The company has also expanded its fleet and has plans for further capacity enhancements.
Feeder services operated by SAFEEN Feeders and Global Feeder Shipping have been redirected through Fujairah and Khor Fakkan, presenting alternative entry points to the UAE and the broader GCC region. New shipping routes now connect ports in India, Pakistan, Oman, and the Upper Gulf.
Additionally, the group has set up an air bridge utilizing three chartered aircraft to transport crucial cargo, with further capacity expansion planned. On the ground, a dedicated logistics corridor featuring 800 trucks and daily Etihad Rail services guarantees smooth cargo transitions between Fujairah, Khor Fakkan, Khalifa Port, Jebel Ali, and Sharjah.
To support these initiatives, AD Ports Group has enhanced its warehousing capacity from 76,000 square meters, with ambitions to exceed 188,000 square meters.
With the aid of its advanced digital trade platforms, the group has improved real-time visibility and efficiency in managing trade flows. These systems allow for optimized cargo routing and the reuse of empty containers, which consequently lowers costs and elevates supply chain performance.
By collaborating closely with UAE authorities and industry partners, AD Ports Group is dedicated to providing reliable logistics services while fortifying supply chain resiliency throughout the region.
