After a Rouse Avenue Court discharged Arvind Kejriwal and senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia in the Delhi excise policy case, stating that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) failed to make out a prima facie case, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has announced a series of political moves, including a mega rally scheduled for March 1 at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi.
The party’s Delhi chief, Saurabh Bhardwaj, described the verdict as historic for AAP’s cadre and supporters and said the rally will bring together workers such as former Mohalla Clinic staff, bus marshals, conductors and healthcare personnel who were impacted when the party lost power. Party leaders plan to highlight these employment and service issues at the rally.
In response to the court’s decision, AAP leaders celebrated the relief and framed it as a vindication of their claims that the case was politically motivated. Punjab AAP president Aman Arora called for an apology from the central leadership, accusing the BJP of misusing investigative agencies to target opposition leaders.
Visuals emerging from New Delhi showed emotional reactions from supporters and leaders alike as Kejriwal was cleared of the excise policy charges, with party figures stressing that the outcome will strengthen AAP’s political narrative ahead of future electoral battles.
While AAP focuses on public outreach and its massive rally, the party also signaled intentions to expand its visibility beyond Delhi, indicating that Kejriwal may play a broader national role as part of the party’s strategic planning.
Opposition voices — particularly from the BJP — have been critical, arguing that an acquittal does not necessarily equate to innocence and describing the verdict as a technical issue rather than a full vindication. This has set the stage for continued political clashes and debate over the implications of the judgment.
