A 3.6 magnitude earthquake rattled near Vallejo, California, on Thursday afternoon, generating light yet discernible tremors in several Bay Area locales. The quake struck at 12:41 PM Pacific Time, with its epicenter positioned roughly 2 miles south of Vallejo, as indicated by initial seismic reports.
Residents from Berkeley, Benicia, Hercules, and Richmond felt brief, sharp vibrations, but there were no immediate accounts of injuries or damage. Neighbors recounted the shaking as a swift jolt followed by slight ground swaying.
Seismologists remarked that initial readings might be revised as more information is gathered and additional reports on shake intensity are assessed. Minor quakes of this nature occur frequently in the region, acting as reminders of California’s intricate fault lines.
Authorities stressed that, despite the small scale, residents should stay informed about earthquake safety measures and ensure that their emergency kits and preparedness strategies are current.
