Forest Fire Erupts In J&K’s Ramban District, Smoke Covers Hills

Post by : Shakul

A massive forest fire has broken out in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ramban district, sending huge flames and thick clouds of smoke across large stretches of forest-covered hillsides. Dramatic visuals emerging from the area show dense vegetation engulfed in fire as the blaze continues spreading through the mountainous terrain.

According to local officials, emergency response teams and forest department personnel have been deployed to control the fire and prevent it from spreading further into nearby areas. Authorities are closely monitoring the rapidly changing situation as difficult terrain and weather conditions complicate firefighting operations.

Officials stated that dry weather, rising temperatures, and strong winds are fueling the flames, making containment efforts more challenging. Firefighters are reportedly working continuously to create fire lines and stop the blaze from reaching sensitive forest zones or nearby settlements.

Videos circulating on social media show massive flames lighting up the hillsides during the night while thick smoke blankets surrounding areas. The fire has raised concerns over potential environmental damage, wildlife impact, and the destruction of forest resources in the region.

Authorities have not officially confirmed any major casualties or injuries linked to the incident so far. However, officials say precautionary monitoring is ongoing and nearby residents are being kept informed as firefighting operations continue.

Forest fires during the summer season are not uncommon in parts of Jammu and Kashmir, especially when prolonged dry conditions and strong winds create ideal conditions for rapid fire spread. Experts warn that climate variability and rising temperatures are increasing the frequency and intensity of such incidents across hilly regions.

Officials are expected to continue assessment and containment operations over the coming hours while additional support teams may be deployed if the situation worsens.
