High-ranking representatives from the United Arab Emirates and the United Nations convened to explore opportunities for deepening their collaboration in energy, sustainability, and water management.
The talks were led by His Excellency Abdulla Balalaa and Her Excellency Amina J. Mohammed, who centered their discussions on enhancing global partnerships aimed at achieving sustainable development goals through innovative solutions and practical collaborations.
A significant agenda item was the preparation for the upcoming United Nations Water Conference 2026, scheduled to take place in Abu Dhabi from December 8 to 10, co-hosted by the UAE and Senegal.
This conference is poised to serve as a vital international platform for accelerating initiatives to resolve water-related issues, garner partnerships, and enhance global dedication to water security and sustainable development.
H.E. Abdulla Balalaa reiterated the UAE’s unwavering commitment to collaborating with the United Nations and global partners to ensure the conference's success, emphasizing the UAE's openness to international investments and cooperation in areas such as water resilience and sustainable management.
Discussions highlighted the critical role of water in fostering sustainable development, climate resilience, food security, and economic advancement. Both parties recognized the necessity of enhanced multilateral collaboration to tackle worldwide water challenges.
The meeting concluded with a mutual pledge to foster an action-oriented approach that includes governments, international organizations, financial entities, the private sector, and other stakeholders, aimed at developing actionable solutions that progress toward Sustainable Development Goal 6—clean water and sanitation.
Overall, the dialogue underscored the robust partnership between the UAE and the UN and their shared vision of promoting inclusive and effective cooperation in global sustainability endeavors.
