Liverpool's star forward, Mohamed Salah, might still grace the pitch again before the season concludes, as per Liverpool manager Arne Slot's recent statements. He has confirmed that Salah’s latest injury isn’t severe and is hopeful he’ll be back playing before his anticipated departure from Anfield this summer.
Salah had to leave the field during the team's 3-1 victory over Crystal Palace due to concerns over a potential hamstring injury. He received a warm farewell from the audience at Anfield, leading to worries that it could be his last game for the club.
However, Liverpool later clarified that Salah is dealing with a "minor muscle injury," which has alleviated fears of an extensive recovery period. Prior to the clash against Manchester United, Slot mentioned that Salah is progressing well and is likely to return during the closing stages of the season, even though he will miss the upcoming match at Old Trafford.
The manager commended Salah's impressive recovery habits, noting that he frequently returns to action quicker than anticipated due to his high levels of professionalism and fitness. Slot expressed his relief at the encouraging medical news for both the team and their supporters.
Moreover, Slot remarked that Salah deserves a significant farewell before exiting the club. The Egyptian international announced in March his intention to leave Liverpool at the end of the 2025-26 season, marking the end of a remarkable nine-year period.
Since joining Liverpool in 2017, Salah has established himself as one of the club’s all-time greats, contributing to victories in the Premier League, UEFA Champions League, FA Cup, League Cup, FIFA Club World Cup, among various other accolades.
Throughout his career at Anfield, Salah has shattered numerous records, securing his position as one of the top scorers in the club’s history and as a leading figure among African footballers in the Premier League.
This season has proven more challenging for Salah, with only seven Premier League goals reported, compared to his standout performance last season. Additionally, the season has featured some public tensions between Salah and manager Slot, particularly when the forward was momentarily benched from the starting eleven.
Nevertheless, Liverpool's fanbase is keen on giving Salah the farewell he merits before he departs. Concerns about the recent injury potentially hindering his last chance to play at Anfield intensified after his emotional exit against Crystal Palace.
With several vital matches on the horizon as Liverpool vies for a spot in next season's UEFA Champions League, Salah is targeting a return for one of the final league matches, likely the last home game against Brentford.
Slot remains optimistic that Salah will recover in time to enjoy the kind of farewell his remarkable tenure at Liverpool warrants.
