UAE Team Emirates-XRG displayed a robust performance at the 2026 Tour de Romandie, with both Ivo Oliveira and Tadej Pogačar securing top 10 finishes in the prologue.
Starting first for his team, Oliveira quickly took the hot seat, setting a fast pace. Though he was eventually outperformed by Jakob Söderqvist of Lidl-Trek and Dorian Godon from Ineos Grenadiers, who claimed the stage victory, Oliveira’s impressive average speed of over 52 km/h earned him a commendable third place on the 3.2 km course.
Tadej Pogačar, competing shortly after his victory at Liège-Bastogne-Liège, completed the prologue with a time of 3:42, landing him in sixth place. This year marks his debut at the Tour de Romandie, where he aspires to clinch the general classification title, which his teammate João Almeida secured last season.
Reflecting on his performance, Oliveira expressed delight at returning to competition after recovering from a foot fracture sustained in Catalunya, which kept him from training for 12 days. He remarked on the significance of being back and striving for strong results.
