Trump Motorcade Rerouted After Suspicious Object Found Near Airport

Trump Motorcade Rerouted After Suspicious Object Found Near Airport

Post by : Meena Ariff

US President Donald Trump’s departure from Florida on Sunday evening involved heightened security measures after authorities discovered a suspicious object near Palm Beach International Airport, prompting officials to alter his motorcade route as a precaution.

According to the White House, the object was identified during routine security sweeps conducted ahead of Trump’s scheduled arrival at the airport. While officials did not disclose details about the nature of the object, they confirmed that the situation required further assessment to ensure safety.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said security teams initiated additional checks and decided to modify the motorcade’s travel route as part of established protective protocols. The decision was taken to avoid any potential risk while investigations were carried out.

Trump left his private residence at Mar-a-Lago around 6:20 pm local time for what is typically a brief drive to the airport. However, instead of following the usual direct route, the motorcade took a longer, circular path through parts of Palm Beach. The diversion extended the journey but ensured a secure passage.

During the drive, law enforcement officers on motorcycles formed a moving security shield around the motorcade. At certain points, officers maneuvered closely around the accompanying vehicles to maintain the protective perimeter, reflecting the heightened alert level.

Security arrangements at the airport were also adjusted. Air Force One was positioned in a different area of the airport than usual, and exterior lighting around the aircraft was switched off, a measure often used to limit visibility during sensitive security situations.

When asked by reporters about the incident, Trump said he was unaware of the suspicious object and had not been briefed on the specifics.

Later, a spokesperson for the US Secret Service emphasized that the alternate route was taken strictly as a preventive measure. The agency described the action as standard procedure whenever a potential concern arises during advance security operations.

Authorities confirmed that no immediate threat was detected, and Trump departed Florida without further incident. The investigation into the object continued as part of routine security follow-up.
