Thailand Plans Year-Round Tourism, Targets PM2.5

Thailand Plans Year-Round Tourism, Targets PM2.5

Post by : Shakul

Supajee Suthamphan has reiterated Thailand’s vision of a “365 Days of Amazing Thailand” tourism strategy, emphasizing year-round travel opportunities while also addressing the urgent need to tackle PM2.5 air pollution.

Speaking in Parliament, she clarified that the concept does not imply that every destination is accessible every day under all weather conditions. Instead, it highlights Thailand’s diverse tourism calendar, with different regions offering seasonal attractions throughout the year.

She explained that the initiative aims to maximize the country’s tourism potential by distributing visitor flow across regions and seasons. This approach is expected to generate steady income for local communities and ensure the sustainability of the tourism economy.

At the same time, Supajee stressed that the issue of PM2.5 air pollution remains a critical concern affecting public health. She noted that environmental challenges must be addressed alongside economic initiatives.

The government is currently implementing measures to tackle the root causes of pollution, including controlling open burning and improving air quality monitoring systems. These efforts are designed to deliver both immediate and long-term improvements.

Supajee emphasized that tourism growth and environmental protection must go hand in hand. She stated that economic development should not come at the expense of people’s quality of life.

The government reaffirmed its commitment to balancing tourism expansion with environmental responsibility, ensuring sustainable development while safeguarding public health across Thailand.
