Tesla FSD Gets First Approval in Europe

Tesla FSD Gets First Approval in Europe

Post by : Shakul

Tesla has achieved a major milestone in Europe after Dutch regulators approved its supervised self-driving software, making the Netherlands the first country in the region to allow the technology.

The approval was granted after extensive testing by the Dutch vehicle authority RDW, which evaluated the system for over 18 months. The software, known as Full Self-Driving (FSD) Supervised, allows vehicles to steer, accelerate, and brake with human oversight.

Officials stated that proper use of the system can contribute to road safety, although drivers are still required to remain attentive. The Netherlands is now expected to submit the system for approval across the wider European Union.

The move is seen as a key step for Tesla’s growth strategy, as the company is increasingly relying on artificial intelligence-driven self-driving technology to drive future revenue. CEO Elon Musk has long promoted autonomous driving and robotaxis as the next phase of the company’s expansion.

Tesla has faced declining sales in Europe due to an aging product lineup and controversy surrounding Musk’s political views. However, analysts believe that the introduction of FSD could help revive demand as consumers show interest in advanced driving features.

Currently, around 100,000 Tesla vehicles in the Netherlands, including Model 3 and Model Y, are eligible for the new software. Tesla plans to roll out the feature soon, with expectations of broader adoption across Europe in the coming months.

If approved EU-wide, the technology could significantly reshape the automotive landscape, positioning Tesla ahead of competitors and accelerating the shift toward autonomous mobility in the region.
