A major controversy has emerged in Thailand after Siranudh Scott, a member of the influential Singha beer family, publicly accused his elder brother of sexual abuse that allegedly continued for more than a decade. The emotional allegations have triggered widespread discussion across Thailand and social media platforms.
Siranudh Scott, also known by the nickname “Psi,” shared a tearful video online in which he asked people not to refer to him as a “Singha heir.” He stated that the public does not know the truth behind his personal struggles and family situation. According to his statement, the alleged abuse began when he was 12 years old and continued until he was 24.
The 29-year-old environmental activist claimed that the incidents took place inside family residences and deeply affected his emotional well-being and ability to build relationships later in life. He further alleged that several members of his family were aware of the situation but failed to take action despite his repeated attempts to seek help.
Siranudh also claimed that he possesses evidence related to the allegations, including an audio recording that he later shared on social media. He said family members had heard the recording in the past and were aware of what had allegedly happened. Alongside the abuse claims, he revealed ongoing tensions within the family over inheritance and legal disputes involving property left to him by his late grandfather.
The controversy has attracted massive attention because the Bhirombhakdi family is one of Thailand’s most powerful business dynasties and is widely known for the Singha beer empire. Siranudh stated that he no longer wishes to remain associated with a family environment that, according to him, failed to understand his pain or support him during difficult times.
In response to the allegations, Sunit Scott strongly denied all accusations made by his younger brother. Through a video statement shared online, he described the claims as untrue and deeply upsetting. He acknowledged that the brothers often argued during childhood and admitted that some incidents may have become rough, but firmly denied any sexual abuse.
Sunit also addressed the audio recording released by Siranudh, saying he was unaware the conversation had been secretly recorded. He further stated that efforts had previously been made to resolve family tensions and that he had apologised in the past for earlier conflicts between them.
The case has sparked intense public debate in Thailand regarding family power structures, mental health, abuse awareness and the challenges victims may face when speaking out against influential families. Social media users across the country continue discussing the allegations as both sides publicly defend their positions.
