The Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) and the Indonesian Navy have successfully concluded Exercise Joint Minex Pandu 2026, a bilateral naval drill aimed at strengthening cooperation in maritime security. The exercise was held from March 25 to April 1 in Singapore and the waters off Bintan, focusing on countering underwater threats.
More than 240 personnel from both navies took part in the exercise, which included mine-countermeasure operations, clearance diving, and coordinated maritime drills. The RSN deployed vessels such as RSS Bedok and RSS Punggol, while the Indonesian Navy contributed ships including KRI Pulau Fani and KRI Pulau Rangsang, along with a dedicated dive team.
The exercise featured a range of professional exchanges, including mine-hunting techniques, ship-boarding operations, and live gunnery firing. A key highlight was the sea-rider programme, where personnel from both sides observed each other's specialised operations, enhancing mutual understanding and operational readiness.
Officials from both navies highlighted the importance of continued collaboration, noting that such exercises strengthen interoperability and regional security. The longstanding defence relationship between Singapore and Indonesia is further reinforced through regular engagements, including coordinated patrols and other joint exercises.
