Kicking off on Saturday in Liwa, Al Dhafra region, the second round of the third season of the Abu Dhabi Baja Challenge promises excitement. Organized by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council alongside the Emirates Motorsports Organisation, this round features a robust lineup of 91 competitors from 24 nations, including 22 drivers from the UAE, both seasoned professionals and enthusiastic amateurs.
The challenging race, which spans a 100-kilometre desert track, will be tackled over four laps, navigating through soft sand dunes. Featuring 58 motorcycles, 8 quads, 8 cars, and 17 buggies, the event will rigorously assess the skill and endurance of every participant. Competitors hail from various countries, such as the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, UK, Germany, France, South Africa, USA, India, and more.
Notably, female drivers like Healy Honour (South Africa – Motorcycles), Sone Schaffler (South Africa – Motorcycles), Tracy Pia Zgheib (Lebanon – Motorcycles), Emilija Gilaznienkė (Lithuania – Buggy), and Noura Al Jasasi (UAE – Cars) will also showcase their talents across different categories.
Talal Mustafa Al Hashimi, Executive Director of the Events Sector at the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, emphasized that this stage of the challenge is crucial, offering a thrilling atmosphere as it unites amateur and professional drivers.
Participants will undergo technical inspections and administrative checks on Friday from 4:00 to 9:00 pm. Race-day registration opens at 6:00 am, with a drivers' briefing to follow. The first race batch is set to commence at 8:30 am, concluding with an award ceremony at 11:00 am at the finish line podium.
