RTA Introduces 40 Air-Conditioned Rest Spots for Delivery Riders in Dubai

RTA Introduces 40 Air-Conditioned Rest Spots for Delivery Riders in Dubai

Post by : Badri Ariffin

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) of Dubai has officially launched around 40 air-conditioned rest spots for delivery riders, just in time for the summer.

This initiative is part of RTA’s commitment to enhance road safety, minimize accident risks, and improve delivery riders’ working conditions and quality of life. Additionally, it promotes adherence to traffic regulations.

Strategically placed across vital areas in Dubai, including Hessa Street, Al Khawaneej, Al Barsha, Al Satwa, Oud Maitha, Al Karama, and Arjan, these spots were selected based on operational data and thorough research conducted with delivery firms.

Each rest area is outfitted to mitigate direct sunlight and improve thermal insulation, while ensuring visibility. Inside, they are air-conditioned and include water dispensers alongside phone charging stations.

Depending on the specific site, each location can cater to about 10 delivery riders at a time, complete with dedicated motorcycle parking and amenities designed to support riders during their breaks.

Ahmed Mahboob, CEO of RTA’s Licensing Agency, emphasized that ensuring traffic safety is a primary concern for the authority as Dubai aims to lead globally in road safety. He mentioned that a structured governance framework has been established to enhance service standards in the delivery sector throughout the emirate.

According to RTA, this initiative not only supports the fast-growing delivery industry but also offers riders a safer and more comfortable environment, especially during the intense summer heat.
