RTA Facilitates Over 2.8 Million Passengers This New Year 2026

RTA Facilitates Over 2.8 Million Passengers This New Year 2026

Post by : Badri Ariffin

On the occasion of New Year’s Eve 2026, Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) achieved a remarkable feat by transporting more than 2.8 million passengers, marking a 13% rise compared to festivities in the previous year.

This increase was realized through a well-structured traffic and operational strategy, developed in collaboration with the Dubai Event Security Committee and other key stakeholders. Key elements of this plan included robust traffic management, temporary road closures, and augmented public transport services throughout the emirate.

As per official statistics, the cumulative ridership for public transport, including taxis, e-hailing services, marine transport, and shared mobility options, reached an impressive 2,836,859, compared to 2,502,474 passengers during New Year’s Eve 2025.

The Dubai Metro stood out as the most popular transport choice, accommodating 1,249,636 passengers on its Red and Green Lines. Meanwhile, the Dubai Tram carried 58,052 passengers, while public buses and bus-on-demand services recorded 503,264 riders.

Taxi services saw significant demand, with 661,538 passengers transported during peak hours of celebration. Marine transport facilitated 76,745 riders, and e-hailing services logged 286,135 trips. Additionally, shared mobility saw 1,489 users.

The RTA confirmed that the effective implementation of the operational plan provided for safe, efficient, and smooth transit for both residents and visitors heading to New Year celebrations. This successful operation further solidifies Dubai’s global status as a city capable of hosting large-scale events in accordance with international safety and efficiency benchmarks.
