Acclaimed actor Rose Byrne has been named the 2026 Woman of the Year by Harvard University’s renowned Hasty Pudding Theatricals, marking another major milestone in her celebrated career.
The announcement comes soon after Byrne’s recent Golden Globe Award win and an Oscar nomination for her powerful leading performance in “If I Had Legs I’d Kick You.” The honor recognizes her outstanding contributions to film, television, and theater.
Byrne will be celebrated on February 13 with a traditional parade through the streets of Cambridge, Massachusetts. Following the parade, she will receive the iconic pudding pot award during a light-hearted roast ceremony. The festivities will conclude with her attendance at Hasty Pudding Theatricals’ 177th production, “Salooney Tunes.”
In a critical review of “If I Had Legs I’d Kick You,” Byrne’s performance was praised for showcasing remarkable depth, strength, and versatility, with many calling it the most demanding dramatic role of her career.
Hasty Pudding Theatricals President Daisy Nussbaum said the organization was delighted to honor Byrne, noting that her recent awards-season success made the recognition especially fitting.
Meanwhile, actor Michael Keaton has been named the 2026 Man of the Year and will receive his award on February 6.
Founded in 1795, Hasty Pudding Theatricals is the oldest theatrical organization in the United States and among the oldest in the world. Since 1951, it has honored legendary women in entertainment, including Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts, Scarlett Johansson, Annette Bening, and last year’s recipient, Cynthia Erivo.
An Australian native, Byrne is widely known for her roles in popular films such as “Bridesmaids,” “Neighbors,” “Insidious,” “28 Weeks Later,” “Get Him to the Greek,” and “Juliet, Naked.” Her television work includes the award-winning series “Damages.”
In addition to her screen success, Byrne has a strong theater background. Her stage credits include productions at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, and she is set to return to Broadway in March, starring alongside Kelli O’Hara in a revival of “Fallen Angels.”
With this latest honor, Rose Byrne continues to cement her place as one of the most respected and versatile performers of her generation.
