The State of Qatar has formally criticized the incursion into the Al-Aqsa Mosque complex by Israel’s National Security Minister, describing it as a provocative act condoned by Israeli settlers and their supporters within the occupation forces.
On Friday, Qatar’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement labeling the event as not only a breach of international law but also a significant affront to the sentiments of Muslims globally.
The ministry highlighted its disapproval of the barriers placed before worshipers wishing to enter Al-Aqsa Mosque, emphasizing that such recurring incidents threaten to alter the historical and legal standing of occupied Jerusalem along with its sacred Islamic and Christian sites.
Furthermore, the ministry reiterated that Al-Aqsa Mosque is an exclusive place of worship for Muslims. It asserted that any unilateral efforts to modify the identity and legal nature of Jerusalem and its religious sites lack any legitimacy under international law.
Qatar cautioned that ongoing provocations and violations could escalate tensions and jeopardize global initiatives aimed at achieving peace and stability in the area.
The ministry reiterated its appeals for the international community to act decisively against Israel's continuous transgressions against the Palestinian people and their sacred locations. It also called upon Israel to adhere to international agreements.
Qatar reaffirmed its unwavering commitment to the Palestinian cause, advocating strongly for the rights of the Palestinian populace, including the establishment of an independent state along the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital.
