Mattel is bringing back the beloved Masters of the Universe action figures, launching a fresh toy line tied to its upcoming live-action film. This exciting move follows the massive success of Mattel’s 2023 hit movie Barbie, which grossed over $1.4 billion worldwide and earned an Academy Award.
The toy company is set on breathing new life into its iconic brands, with more than a dozen films currently in development. Riding the wave of enthusiasm sparked by the Masters of the Universe movie teaser — which has already attracted over 30 million views online — Mattel is capitalizing on the perfect moment to reintroduce this nostalgic franchise.
Originally a huge hit in the 1980s, the Masters of the Universe toy line has long held a special place in fans' hearts. Mattel’s chief global brand officer emphasized that the timing for this relaunch was carefully chosen to celebrate the brand’s legacy in a meaningful way.
The upcoming film is directed by Oscar-nominated Travis Knight and stars Nicholas Galitzine as the heroic He-Man. The cast also boasts big names like Jared Leto, who plays the villain Skeletor, along with Idris Elba, Alison Brie, and Camila Mendes.
The new action figures, featuring fan favorites like He-Man, Skeletor, and Evil-Lyn, will be available worldwide starting in April. Priced around $25, these toys are set to hit stores about two months before the movie’s theatrical release, giving fans a chance to relive the magic and excitement of this classic universe.
