Maintaining a marriage can be challenging. It requires love, tolerance, and effort from both partners. Each couple endures highs and lows, but the longevity of a relationship hinges on how they confront those challenges together. Bhavna and Sachin Jain, an Indian couple, have recently revealed their 'quirky rules' that contribute to their enduring happiness in marriage, garnering admiration online.
Bhavna, a content creator, along with her husband, Sachin, acknowledges that their marriage isn't flawless. However, they've established a handful of personal guidelines that strengthen their relationship. These rules aren't sourced from books or relationship coaches; they're rooted in their personal experiences—derived from conflicts, quiet evenings, and the journey of growing side by side.
The couple contends that relationships shouldn't feel obliged to adhere to external norms about what's deemed 'correct.' The essence lies in discovering what resonates with both partners, ensuring they feel safe, respected, and valued. They assert that these seemingly minor yet impactful rules keep them 'centered, intimate, and somewhat sane.'
Here are the rules Bhavna and Sachin adhere to in their relationship:
Rule 1: Sometimes, going to bed angry is acceptable.
While many advise against sleeping after disputes, Bhavna and Sachin believe it's fine to go to sleep upset occasionally. They argue that not every issue needs immediate resolution; taking time to decompress allows both partners to gain clarity and understanding.
Rule 2: No devices in the bedroom.
The couple firmly believes that once they enter their bedroom, all devices should be turned off. This includes phones and other screens. They regard their bedroom as a sanctuary meant for relaxation and connection, preferring genuine conversations and cuddles over distractions from social media.
Rule 3: Granting each other personal space.
According to Bhavna and Sachin, love doesn't demand constant proximity. When one partner expresses the need for space, the other respects it without feelings of guilt or inquiry. They argue that giving each other space fosters individual growth, ultimately fortifying their relationship.
Rule 4: We don't share relationship matters with others.
This guideline focuses on maintaining their personal life’s privacy. The couple chooses not to discuss their relationship problems with family or friends. They believe that too many outside opinions distract partners from listening to each other, allowing them to resolve conflicts directly and genuinely.
Rule 5: Commit to regular date nights.
Even after years of marriage, Bhavna and Sachin prioritize romance by dedicating time for date nights two or three times a month. These nights are often simple—perhaps dinner at home or coffee on the balcony—but they consistently use this opportunity to converse and reconnect without technology or interruptions.
Their video showcasing these principles has sparked a viral response, earning widespread praise on social media. One individual commented, 'Divorce rates would plummet if couples practiced what these two preach.' Another remarked, 'These are such valuable reminders.' Some even suggested these rules represent the 'bare minimum' all couples should commit to.
The core message from Bhavna and Sachin is clear: there is no universal blueprint for a thriving marriage. Each couple is unique, and effective strategies for one may not fit another. Nevertheless, communication, respect, and compassion remain essential.
