Islamabad, Pakistan — Former prime minister Imran Khan, who has been jailed since 2023, underwent a follow‑up eye treatment at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) on Tuesday, hospital officials said.
Khan was brought from Adiala Jail, Rawalpindi to the PIMS Hospital under strict security for a second dose of an anti‑VEGF intravitreal injection as part of ongoing treatment for his eye condition. A board of medical specialists examined him before the procedure and found him clinically stable.
Doctors conducted tests including echocardiography and ECG, and reported normal results. The injection was given under careful monitoring in the operation theatre by ophthalmologists and retinal surgeons. Khan’s vital signs remained stable before, during and after the procedure, and he was discharged later the same day with instructions for follow‑up care.
The treatment visit on 24 February 2026 was the second time in recent weeks that Khan was brought to the hospital for eye care; further sessions are planned as part of his ongoing treatment plan.
Khan, 74, has faced health concerns during his imprisonment, including reports of vision loss in his right eye. His family and party leaders have called for greater transparency and access for his personal physician, while supporters and some international figures have expressed concern over his medical condition and care.
